The latest installment in Bob Dylan’s “Bootleg Series” will be “The Witmark Demos: 1962-1964,” to be released Oct. 19, 2010; a box set containing Dylan’s first eight albums in mono will be released the same day.
The Witmark Demos have never been officially issued in full, although several tracks appeared on previous installments of the Bootleg Series. The two-CD set contains 47 tracks, of which 15 are songs which were never released in any form. Also included in the package is a booklet featuring liner notes by Colin Escott, as well as rare photographs of Dylan. “The Witmark Demos: 1962-1964” will be the ninth release in the Bootleg Series.
“The Original Mono Recordings” presents Dylan’s first eight studio albums as the artist originally intended them to sound. These mixes of the albums have never been available on CD.
Both sets will be issued on CD as well as fully analogue 180-gram vinyl.
Purchasers who opt to purchase either release through Amazon will receive a free, exclusive live disc containing a previously uncirculated 1963 concert. The release is currently available for pre-order.
“The Witmark Demos” is also available for pre-order at the http://bobdylan.com online store. Customers who purchase the release via Dylan’s official site will receive an exclusive Bob Dylan t-shirt.
